Something I forgot to show you, a purse I did as a swatch for the blue kimono jacket.

C'est un tout petit monde

Read “It’s a small world".

This is the name I intend to give to my new pattern (still in the process of writing). A market bag that you can see here “folded” into its attached purse.

So, answer to our guessing game… it wasn’t a capelet, it wasn’t a shrug, it wasn’t a doily, it was … a market bag.
:crochethook:

I just tested it irl

it successfully carried (and my shoulder still hurts!)

1 pack of 10 croissants
1 pack of 10 petits pains au lait
1 pack of tortellinis
1 liter milk
1 liter soup
3 small boxes of mushrooms
1 cake
205 g butter
un marseille soap
1 tuna box
1 corn box
1 kg cottage cheese
1 glass mustard
1 box of asparagus

That is … 6525 g!

Problem : when it stretches it tends to touch the ground, when said ground is uneven, and it would have cut into my hand haven’t I had a handkerchief handy in my bag… May be I should line the handles in the middle…

I’m still very happy with it, come back soon for the pattern!

immodest

I eventually had an occasion of wearing the phildar top I started (and finished) last year and could not wear because just when I found a ribbon to tie it up the sun wouldn’t show anymore. So I had it hand-washed, blocked “somehow” and folded patiently waiting in my cupboard

The tie I first braided for it would not slip easily into the eyelets (cotton on cotton, I suppose) but I kept it anyway, it’s the one I’m using now to tie the jacket I’m wearing on this picture. I finally found a velvety ribbon that matches the top. However, this design is not intended for big lolas… not.at.all. So I wear it sideways and with something underneath… to avoid being far too immodest.

Stats :

Stitches : simple ones : chain and double crochet.. the usual…
Yarn : Cotton Pernelle “tropique” color “fuschia", 140 yds for 1 oz 3/4, for crochet hook : 4,5mm, used a little more than 2 skeins.
Crochet Hook : used aluminium 3 mm (US size D), advised for this yarn : 4,5 mm (US size G).
Pattern : Phildar été 2006
Design : It’s just the third of a doily tied on the torso, a fun thing to do but more suitable for blooming young beauties than for curvaceous radiant women like myself. I have no regrets though, it makes a very dressy vest.

  • Crocheted!

  • Is it knitted? Nope! Crocheted! Crochet isn't just for grannies, doilies and floppy funky scarves. I am - fairly - under 50, I have a crochet hook and a yarn ball handy in my purse and I like decorating my shoulders better than my sofa.
