Star Purse
“Sac étoile”
Something I forgot to show you, a purse I did as a swatch for the blue kimono jacket.

C'est un tout petit monde
This is the name I intend to give to my new pattern (still in the process of writing). A market bag that you can see here “folded” into its attached purse.
So, answer to our guessing game… it wasn’t a capelet, it wasn’t a shrug, it wasn’t a doily, it was … a market bag.
I just tested it irl
it successfully carried (and my shoulder still hurts!)
1 pack of 10 croissants
1 pack of 10 petits pains au lait
1 pack of tortellinis
1 liter milk
1 liter soup
3 small boxes of mushrooms
1 cake
205 g butter
un marseille soap
1 tuna box
1 corn box
1 kg cottage cheese
1 glass mustard
1 box of asparagus
That is … 6525 g!
Problem : when it stretches it tends to touch the ground, when said ground is uneven, and it would have cut into my hand haven’t I had a handkerchief handy in my bag… May be I should line the handles in the middle…
I’m still very happy with it, come back soon for the pattern!

It's a small world
The eco-friendly shopper in me has long been wanting a shopping bag that would be easy to stuff in my ever-so-trendy-but-too-small handbags and would not endanger the life of sea turtles (you know plastic bags kill them, don't you?).
Well, this (crochet worls) is a small world, and this idea has been floating around on the internet for a while.
- Canadian living has a very simple one.
- Crochetme! issue n°14 (Spring 2004) has a pattern called Reduction tote bag, a filet tote bag with a granny square pocket to stuff the empty tote in (in my would-be-project I envisionned a round pocket with a zipper, that would also act as a purse).
- Erin et Carol knitalong blog features free patterns for crochet, knit and mesh shopping bags : String it along.
- Loom knitting anyone? Loom knitters circle recently features two free patterns : Hemp shopping bag and Market tote.
- And how about going all the ecolo-way down and recycling your old plastic bags into a new eco-friendly shopping bag? Marlo will show you how to make them into skeins first... à la Marlo.
