Victoria too
Victoria too
I've finished (on the third of May... well to tell the truth, the slip and the belt are still missing but hey! who cares? not me) my second take to the Victoria's secret skirt.
You can find about the first one here. The pattern is no longer available on crochetville.org, but I found it over there... Shh!. It's a secret!
This time I almost didn't modify the pattern, I just chose to repeat the lys flower of the second diagram into the third one (I really didn't like the solid pattern of trebles), I left aside the last row of double crochets, in lieu of which I did a discreet row of slip stitches, and this time again, I crocheted cables between the leaves of the bottom of the skirt.
I am de_ligh_ted with the outcome.
For this one I wanted to experiment with color and create a subtle gradation from pink to off white.
Still trying to get rid of the 24 pounds of acrylic yarn I so recklessly e-bayed and thus making way for new auctions playfully experiment with yarn and color, I thought I could try to mimic Phil’onde by Phildar (alas discontinued).
Follow up:
Here's the plan. Let's say you have 3 colors : 1 is pink, 2 is light pink and 3 is off white, then let's say those are very thin yarns, so thin you would need to treble them to work with them. Now let's say you mix them while trebling, shifting from the darker to the lighter color :- first you would just treble yarn 1 : 111
- then you would remove some 1 and add some 2 : 112
- so on untill you only have yarn 3 : 333
The problem was I had to split the pink yarn... the others were ok.
I knew it would be difficult. But I had no idea how difficult it would be!

I don't know how Lilygo did it (actually I know, and I did what she said, or I believe I did), but I had to give up in the middle of doing one skein.>
here's the result (with and without flash). I eventually decided not to use 222, the yarn being too thick if crocheted with the same gauge. The colors are quite true to reality.
Photo 1 : in the middle 111 then from right to left counterclockwise 112, 122, 222, 223, 233 and 333.
Now the question was shall I go from white to pink or from pink to white...

I made a few mistakes, I started the first three rows twice, and even if I measured it twice, the skirt was still too wide, and I had to start over again!
I also had to wind up two more skeins of 333.
The last rows started to curl, like the first time, but I did not have to steam-block it, regular hand-washing-and-lay-flat-to-dry was enough.
Here are the last pictures, I hope to take "real ones" later !
Funny how the colors stand out when the skirt is wet. I tried two different ways of making the belt. First I used three strings but it didn't work well, then I braided the strings together and I left half of it loose. I think it looks ok... I bought a few beads to weigh it down.
Stats !
- Yarn : cotton and acrylic, Wrap per Inch : 12, used almost 900g.
- Hook : aluminium n°3. USA size D.
- Material : a few beads to customize the belt.
